My Hobby

Hobby means an additional activity of a man done for pleasure in his spare time. It gives him joy and pleasure. For the health of his mind and body, a man must have a hobby. Without hobby our leisure cannot be utilized properly. It is essential to make our life enjoyable.

Hobbies differ from man to man. Some like gardening, some like reading, some like kite-flying, some like fishing and whatnot.

My favourite hobby is gardening. Whenever I get time, I work in it. I work with the spade to make the soil loose, weed out grass and plant flower plants in it. I water them regularly. I have also built a fence around my garden so that cattle cannot do any harm to my plants. I plant such flower plants that my garden is never without flowers. My joys know no bound when I see all the flowers in full bloom. They look like stars in the sky. Sometimes father takes me to the garden in the morning. He is pleased to see my work in it. When there is a holiday and the college is closed, I work for longer period in my garden.

Before making the garden, I was rather physically delicate. But when I started the garden and worked hard in it for sometime, my health improved. Now, I am quite a healthy boy both physically and mentally. Everyday I spend two hours in the garden. Physical labour and fresh air of the garden are very helpful for the growth of my body and mind.

Thus, my hobby is a source of great pleasure and joy to me. It makes my body strong and my mind cheerful. It also help me in another way. After one or two hours work in the garden when I go to study, I can read my books very attentively.

I am a student. I have a hobby. My favourite hobby is gardening. It gives me much pleasure. I have a garden in front of my reading room. Wherever I get time. I work on it. I lose the soil with the spade and weed out the grass. I water the plants regularly. I also put a fence around my garden so that cattle or naughty children cannot do any harm to my garden. In the morning my heart leaps up with joy to see my garden full of various flowers. They spread a sweet smell. The garden also looks very charming.

It has improved my body and mind. Before making this garden I was a girl of ill health. I did not feel hungry. I lost my taste for food. Day by day I became weak. I started the garden to have a sound health, in fact, improved.

Every day I work in the garden at least for two hours. As a result of it, my blood runs well. The beauty and sweet smell of different flowers make me jolly. On holidays I work more in my garden. When my friends come to our home, I take them into my garden and show them various flowers. They become very glad to see my garden and thank me.

I also grow various kinds of vegetables in one corner of my garden. My mother becomes very happy to have the vegetables. She prepares delicious dishes and serves for our family. This also gives me much pleasure.

Thus my hobby is a great source of joy and pleasure. It relieves me from my routine bound work. It helps me forget sorrows and sufferings. It makes my body strong and minds jolly.

We have more or less leisure in our daily life. To pass the time with joy, we take up a hobby. A hobby fills the leisure hours with joy. It gives us pleasure and makes us happy when we are tired. It brings back our energy and refreshes our mind.

Different people have different hobbies. Most common hobbies are the collection of the stamp, coins etc. Many people follow angling gardening, hunting, farming etc.

My hobby is the collection of stamps. I have three hundred stamps in my album. These are all posted in their proper places. I have got many pen-friends in many foreign countries. They often write letters to me. They have sent me stamps of the USA, Brazil, Sudan and seven other countries. I exchange stamps with my friends at home and abroad.

On every Friday, I work on my hobby for two hours in the afternoon. I paste the stamps and write the details and the name of the country it has come from under each. As I get a stamp of a country, I wish to know about its people, their way of life, their art, culture, geography and history.

This hobby not only gives me pleasure but also increases my knowledge about the people of other countries. A kind of friendship between myself and the people of other lands through stamps. I am proud of the album I have compiled. I hope to increase my collection up to one thousand during the next year.
