A postman is one of the pillars of the postal system. He is a humble government servant. The utility and goodwill of the postal department largely depend on him.
A postman is a very familiar figure in our society. He wears a khaki uniform; he carries letters and money in a bag.
The postman goes from house to house making delivery of letters, parcels and money orders. In a town, he has a fixed area of work. He visits his workplace daily in connection with his duties. A village postman has to work in a large area. It is not possible for him to cover the whole area in a day. He generally visits a locality twice a week. In a village market, he can meet people from different villages. In a town, the postman appears a lonely figure. Whatever may be the condition of the weather, fair or foul (প্রতিকূল), a postman has to go out on his duties.
The postman deals with very important matters. Letters, parcels, money orders etc are very important things for senders and addresses. Sometimes, if these are mishandled, it causes serious sufferings to the related persons. So, the postman has a lot of responsibilities. The postman needs to be more conscious about his responsibilities.
The postman renders a great service to the people of a locality. He has to perform heavy duties. But the pay he receives in return is quite meagre (সামান্য). Steps may be taken to improve his condition. He undoubtedly deserves better pay and respect.

The person gets a small pay. But his duty is very responsible. So he should be well-paid so that he may perform his duty with attention.
