Letter to friend to eradication of illiteracy

Write a letter to your friend Hamid encouraging him to take part in eradication of illiteracy.

Suppose, you are S. Alam of 67 Siddheswari Road, Dhaka. You think that the curse of illiteracy is the cause of people’s poverty and that the student community can play an important role in eradicating illiteracy by way of opening night schools for the young and the old in the villages. You desire your friend Hamid to open a night school in his locality and teach the illiterate people alongside his studies.

My dear Hamid,

Thank you so much for sending me this lovely present which carries your love and feeling for me. I know you are very busy with your studies. 

But today, friend, I will tell you to do some social service side by side with your studies. You know 80% of people in our country who live in villages are illiterate. That’s why we are poor, although our country is so much rich in natural resources. Illiteracy is the cause of our poverty. To remove this curse of illiteracy from society. Students can play a vital role. 

You can open a night school in your locality where many people are illiterate. So, you along with your other student friends from your village, can open a night school and teach the old and the young illiterate people. If the student community helps in opening night schools in every village of Bangladesh and in teaching the illiterate the curse of illiteracy would vanish from Bangladesh. 

Hope you will try to spend a part of your time and energy in this social work.
