Ruma, DHAKA, January 10 : The four-day golden jubilee celebration of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College begins January 12 on the premises.
The Hon’ble President of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh will inaugurate the grand celebration on January 12, Principal of the college Hamida Ali told a press conference on Tuesday.
The four-day gala programmes include opening ceremony, alumni day, founding day and closing day. Three mega cultural shows and a band show will be staged.
About 4,000 former students of the school have registered their names to take part in the extravaganza.
Established in 1952, the Viqarunnisa Noon School turned into a Bangla medium school from Senior Cambridge system in 1972. The college section was started from 1978.
In a new improvement, the governing body of the school has decided not to admit any student by persuasion, all recruitment will be done by admission tests, Principal Hamida Ali said.
Replying to a question Principal Hamida Ali said that she faced serious political pressure to allow less qualified students in the school. “That is why the quality of the school slightly deteriorated,” she added.
