We do various prestigious things to commemorate this auspicious day. The ceremony of this day began with the singing of the national anthem and hoisting of the national flag.
This day our great national leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman declared independence of our motherland. He called upon the people of the country to resist the occupied Pak army with whatever they had. The people of the country fought the enemy and made Bangladesh free.
In keeping the age-old tradition, the Independence Day parade and march past are held in National Parade Square at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. Special dishes are served in prisons, orphanages and hospitals. Different socio-cultural organizations and political parties draw up elaborate programmes to celebrate the day.
