Tree Plantation
Tree plantation days are observed in our country every year according to a programme under the auspices of the government. Thoughtless destruction of our trees, woods, and forests has put the country to a great disadvantage. They are destroyed mostly for being used as fire-wood. This destruction disturbs our ecological balance. It leads to soil erosion. It deprives us of fruit and timber and causes economic loss. We are aware who woods and forests bring rain, help our agriculture and prevent floods. Thus the havoc created by unscrupulous destruction of trees and plants must be made good by way of tree plantation. The programme of tree plantation is launched not only in the towns but also in the countryside. Every house, school, college, hospital, bank, and other institutions are asked to plant trees. Seedlings and saplings are often supplied by the Forest Department of the Government. We should be earnest in taking advantage of the national programme of tree plantation.

The trees give us fruit, flowers, oxygen, timber and fuel. If there were no trees, there would be no oxygen and life will cease to exist. The indiscriminate cutting down of trees may lead to a desertification. The loss of trees means the loss of life. It leads to fewer rains and fall of harvest. As a result, people die of starvation. Besides, heat, pollution, flood, famine, disease are the result of deforestation. So, to save mankind, forests should be preserved. Birds and beasts will have no place to live in. Thus wildlife will be extinct and the balance of Nature will be disturbed. To prevent it, deforestation should be discourage and awareness about the importance of trees has to be developed to keep the earth greener, cleaner and safer for the future generation. If we can ensure a greener world for the future generation, the people on this earth will enjoy a safe and happy life. Sometime in future, the trees will be our best friends because nature is always harmless but human friends can be sometimes harmful. So, let us make friends with the trees through tree plantation which will one day make the world a peaceful place for all living beings.
