Positive to Comparative
Rule — 1
No other যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Comparative Degree তে রূপান্তর করার নিয়ম :
(i) Positive Degree এর শেষে subject হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত noun বা pronoun টি প্রথমে বসে।
(ii) verb বসে।
(iii) so / as ____ as এর ভিতর ব্যবহৃত positive degree এর comparative form বসে।
(iv) than any other বসে।
(v) No other এর পর থেকে verb এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত বসে।
Structure
উক্ত sentence এর শেষের subject + verb + positive এর comparative form + than
any other + No other পর হতে verb পূর্ব পর্যন্ত।
উদাহরণ :
Positive : No other teacher in the school is as careful as he.
Comparative : He is more careful than any other teacher.
Positive : No other country is as rich as Japan.
Comparative : Japan is richer than any other country.
Positive : No other wood burns as pretty as this.
Comparative : This burns prettier than any other wood.
Positive : No other mosque is as large as this.
Comparative : This is larger than any other mosque.
Practice more :
Positive : No other city in Bangladesh is as busy as Dhaka.
Comparative : Dhaka is busier than any other city in Bangladesh.
Positive : No other building is as high as it.
Comparative : It is higher than any other building.
Positive : No other country is as green as Bangladesh.
Comparative : Bangladesh is greener than any other country.
Positive : No other boy is as dangerous as Karim.
Comparative : Karim is more dangerous than any other boy.
Positive : No other paper is as important as it.
Comparative : It is more important than any other paper.
Positive : No other thing is as valuable as time.
Comparative : Time is more valuable than any other thing.
Rule — 2
As ___ as যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Comparative Degree তে রূপান্তর করার নিয়ম :
(i) Positive Degree এর শেষে subject হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত noun বা pronoun টি প্রথমে বসে।
(ii) verb বসে।
(iii) Positive sentence টিতে not / no থাকলে তা তুলে দিতে হয় এবং না থাকলে not / no যোগ করতে হয়।
(iv) positive degree এর comparative form বসে।
(v) than + Positive sentence টির প্রথম subject বসে।
Structure
শেষের Subject + verb + not + positive degree এর comparative form + than +
positive sentence এর প্রথম subject
উদাহরণ :
Positive : He is as tall as his brother.
Comparative : His brother is not taller than him.
Positive : Dishonour is not as preferable as death.
Comparative : Death is more preferable to dishonour.
Positive : Rahim is as wealthy as he.
Comparative : He is not wealthier than Rahim.
Positive : Nipa is not as dull as Seema.
Comparative : Seema is duller than Nipa.

Positive : He is not as brilliant as his sister.
Comparative : His sister is more brilliant than he.
Positive : India is as powerful as Australia.
Comparative : Australia is not more powerful than India.
Positive : The tiger is not as ferocious as the lion.
Comparative : The lion is more ferocious than the tiger.
Positive : He is not as noble as his father.
Comparative : His father is nobler than he.
Positive : Tamin is not as brave as Mashrafee.
Comparative : Mashrafe is braver than Tamim.
Positive : Mushfiqur Rahim is not as tall as Mahmudullah.
Comparative : Mahmudullah is taller than Mushfiqur Rahim.
Positive : Nasir is not as strong as Sabbir.
Comparative : Sabbir is stronger than Nasir.
Rule — 3
Very few যুক্ত Positive Degree কে Comparative Degree তে রূপান্তর করার নিয়ম :
(i) Positive Degree এর শেষে subject হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত noun বা pronoun টি প্রথমে বসে।
(ii) verb বসে।
(iii) so / as ____ as এর ভিতর ব্যবহৃত positive degree এর comparative form বসে।
(iv) than most / many / few other বসে।
(v) Very few তুলে দিয়ে তারপর থেকে verb এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত বসে।
Structure
উক্ত sentence এর শেষের subject + verb + positive এর comparative form + than
most / few / many other + Very few পর হতে verb পূর্ব পর্যন্ত।
উদাহরণ :
Positive : Very few metals are as costly as gold.
Comparative : Gold is costlier than most other metals.
Positive : Very few hotels in Bangladesh are as expensive as the Bashundhara.
Comparative : The Bashundhara is more expensive than most other hotels in Bangladesh.
Positive : Very few labourers in the factory areas industrious as he.
Comparative : He is more industrious than most other labourers in the factory.
Positive : Very few persons in this family are as interesting as Hasan.
Comparative : Hasan is more interesting than most other persons in this family.
Practice more :
Positive : Very few students in the Class were as active as Ratul.
Comparative : Ratul was more active than most other students in this class.
Positive : Very few workers in this industry are as busy as Anonto Zalil.
Comparative : Anonto Zalil is busier than most other workers in this industry.
Positive : Very few news are as sad as it.
Comparative : It is sadder than most other news.
Positive : Very few men in the village are as poor as Hafiz.
Comparative : Hafiz is poorer than most other men in the village.
Positive : Very few actresses in Bengali film industry are as sweet as Purnima.
Comparative : Purnima is sweeter than most other actresses in Bengali film industry.
Positive : Very few students in the class are as late as Rakib.
Comparative : Rakib is later than most other students in the class.
Positive : Very few cricketers are as rich as MS Dhoni.
Comparative : MS Dhoni is richer than most other cricketers.
Positive : Very few sports are as enjoyable as cricket.
Comparative : Cricket is more enjoyable than most other sports.
Positive : Very few governments are as powerful as this caretaker govt.
Comparative : This caretaker govt. is more powerful than most other governments.
