Uses and Abuses of Internet

An international computer network connecting other networks and computers from companies, universities and other institutions is called "Internet". We are living in the age of computers. Computers are being used everywhere in every field. The development of computer programming and computer technology has given us the cheap and quick method of exchanging information. This method is called as Internet.

"The Internet is not just one thing, it's a collection of things - of numerous communications networks that all speak the same digital language." - James H. Clark

Internet has its own merits and demerits. The uses and abuses of internet depend upon the user. Some important uses of Internet are being described as following:

(i) It gives information about every field of life.
(ii) We may get information according to our need through internet.
(iii) We may take advantages from encyclopedias, Wikipedia and dictionaries with the help of internet.
(iv) It helps to exchanges views with the persons of the same mentality.
(v) Internet brings the world closer.
(vi) Current affairs and incidents can be discovered by the use of internet.

But internet has some demerits too. Some disadvantages of internet may be described as following :

(i) The students waste their precious hours on sitting on internet without taking any positive and constructive benefits.

(ii) Obscene pictures and sexual material are easily available through internet, which destroy the moral values of young boys and girls.

(iii) Computer hacking is very common by the use of internet. Through hacking, the hackers can get illegal access to our computers and get our personal data and documents.

(iv) Several hours on internet without any purpose produce wrong effects on a person's health.

The Government is trying to take such steps in which the only positive use of internet could make possible. However, it is totally depends upon the trends and the education of the people, if they are aware of their profit and loss they will use internet with their justification.
