Use of Renewable Energy in the Development of Bangladesh
The use of renewable energy is expanding rapidly across the globe. Bangladesh has also started adopting this energy generating system to promote development all over the country, and in the process, change the lives of millions of people.
Renewable energy is mainly used to generate electricity in Bangladesh. Fossil fuels have a finite stock, and it also has a huge negative impact on the environment. Thus Bangladesh has been adopting solar power, wind power, tidal power, biogas, wave energy etc to generate electricity. Bangladesh receives a fair amount of average solar radiation every day. Government has taken this chance and power division of Bangladesh has already started a program to generate 500MW electricity using solar energy. It will clearly have a huge positive impact on people's lives. This project will distribute electricity in the rural areas of Bangladesh including educational institutions, health centres, remote railway stations, religious establishments and E-centers at Union level. Thus, people residing in those areas will get the advantages of electricity and will be able to promote their personal and social growth.
Government has also taken initiative to bring the public offices under renewable energy by installing solar panels there. The hydroelectric power plant established in Kaptai is producing almost 230MW electricity. People living in different places in Bangladesh, especially those in rural areas, are the direct beneficiaries of renewable energy usage. With electricity, they can do better in education, get better medical facilities and work even at night in their field if it is required. They will be able to extract higher productivity in their work, which will bring happiness and solvency to their life. Environment of our country will be safer with the implementation of the usage of renewable energy.
The use of renewable energy can certainly change the lives of people. It is no longer an ambitious project. Government should focus more on this issue so that our country can develop more in near future.
