The Concert for Bangladesh
The Concert for Bangladesh was organised by George Harrison and Indian sitar master Ravi Shankar during our War of Liberation. The concert was held on the 1st August 1971 at the Madison Square Garden, New York. It was a live concert in front of an audience of about forty thousand people. The concert was organised to make the world aware of the sufferings of Bangladesh during our Liberation War. Harrison did not take part in the Liberation War but he fought for us by organising the historic concert for Bangladesh. The concert became a successful one. It won huge support for the millions of war victims of Bangladesh. The concerts were attended by a total of 40,000 people. It also raised close to 2,50000 US dollars in UNICEF relief fund for Bangladesh. So, Harrison's love for Bangladesh and struggle for us were a great help in the victory of Bangladesh. We all are grateful to this great man, George Harrison.
