My dear John,
I am very glad to receive your letter. You have wanted to know about the
annual sports day of our school. I would love to share my experience of the
day with you.
The annual sports of our school were held on the 12th February. It was a
joyous and exciting function. The school took a festive look. The school
ground was decorated with colourful flags, festoons and balloons. A beautiful
dais was erected for the chief guest and other guests. This time the Deputy
Commissioner was the chief guest. Sitting arrangements were made for the
spectators in front of the dais.
The sports started at 10 am. There were quite a good number of events of
competitions for different groups of students. The first event was 100 mattress
sprint and I secured the first position in it. The interesting events were the
sack race, the musical chair for girl students and the tug of war between the
guests and our teachers. ‘Dress as you like’ was the most interesting event. I
got the second prize in long jump.
The sports came to an end at 3:00 pm. After a short speech, the chief guest
gave away the prizes amidst high applause and delivered a brief but
instructive speech. At last, our Headmaster thanked the chief guest, the
spectators, the teachers and the students for making the function a success.
With the best of wishes.
Yours sincerely.
Arif
