Information Technology


Information technology means the studies and use of electronic equipments. It is a generic name given to all improvements that are taking place in our world due to the inter-linked advancement in technology, learning and information. The term refers to recent technological developments that are taking place in our world as a result of better technology. It consists of a number of modern advancements such as computer, internet, websites, surfing, e-mail, e-commerce, e-governance, video-conference, cellular phones, paging, fax machines, smart cards, credit cards, ATM cards etc. It has a great importance. Information technology is used for storing, protecting, processing, securing, transmitting, receiving and retrieving information. In business establishments, it is used to solve mathematical and logical problems. Information technology helps in project management systems as well. Students can have access to various learning resources through this technology. We can also communicate with other people through it. The world is in our hand now. But it is a matter of regret that the technology has not yet spread throughout our country. Only the people of big cities like Dhaka, Chattogram etc have gained its advantage. The people of rural areas are still deprived of its benefit. The main cause is the unavailability of network there. Moreover, the people are not educated enough to operate and utilize them. Government should come forward to address this problem. We should also help people understand the importance of information technology.
