The Road Not Taken
Robert Frost
I had no time to hate, because
The grave would hinder me,
And life was not so ample I could finish enmity.
Nor had I time to love, but since
Some industry must be,
The little toil of love, I thought.
Was large enough for me.
ঘৃণার সময় পাইন আমি, কারণ
সমাধি করেছিল আমার পথ রোধ,
আর জীবনটাতো নয় বিশাল এমন যে আমি
শত্রুতার কি হতো শেষ।
এমনকী ছিল না সময় ভালোবাসিবার, তবে যেহেতু
করতেই হত কিছু কাজ,
একটুখানি ভালোবাসাই, আমার মতে,
যথেষ্ট আমার জন্য।
The Theme : The poem deals with ‘transience of human life on earth’. The poem suggests that human life on earth is not enough to finish neither hatred nor love. But, as we are bound to do something, we should spend our short life by loving our co-human being.
