Main idea : Our Creator helps us when we help ourselves in case of discharging our duties. Indeed, self-help is the pilgrim’s best help in life.
Amplification : Life is a walking mechanism. Our life wakens through work. The success and achievement of life comes from our work and industry. Everybody in life wants success. But there are men who do not try themselves, but depend on others. This dependence on others destroys self-confidence and self-security. It mars our stamina and will power. It freezes our potentialities to develop. The result is that we fail in life. Sell-interest is the best incentive to work. If this tendency does not prompt us to do our own work for our own welfare, we cannot expect others to sacrifice their interests to bring that good to us. Moreover, a work done for others is not generally done so well as a work done by a person for himself. In fact, we can very well understand our interest and proceed to work for our best result. Our Creator does not take our side if we don’t try ourselves. God dislikes those who depend on others in life. Indeed, God will not come to help if we do not help ourselves. Thus, we have to work by ourselves and don’t lose faith in our will-power.
বঙ্গানুবাদ
মূলভাব : আমাদের কর্তব্য সম্পাদনের ক্ষেত্রে যখন আমরা নিজেদের সাহায্য করবো, ঈশ্বর আমাদের সহায় হবেন। বস্তুত তীর্থযাত্রীদের জীবনে স্বাবলম্বন সর্বোত্তম সহায়ক।
ভাবসম্প্রসারণ : জীবন একটি চলমান কার্যসাধনপদ্ধতি। আমাদের জীবন কাজের মধ্য দিয়ে জাগরিত হয়। জীবনের সাফল্য ও কৃতিত্ব আমাদের কাজ ও পরিশ্রম থেকে আসে। জীবনে সবাই সাফল্য কামনা করে। কিন্তু মানুষ নিজেরা চেষ্টা করে না, কেবল অন্যের ওপর নির্ভর করে। অপরের ওপর এই নির্ভরশীলতা, আত্মবিশ্বাস ও আত্ম-প্রতিভূকে ধ্বংস করে। এটি আমাদের কর্মশক্তি ও ইচ্ছাশক্তিকে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করে। আমাদের সম্ভাবনার বিকাশকে হিমায়িত করে। এর ফলে আমরা জীবনে ব্যর্থ হই। আত্মঅনুরাগ কাজের সর্বোত্তম উত্তেজক। যদি আমাদের কল্যাণের জন্য আমাদের কাজ করতে এই প্রবণতা তৎপর না হয়, তাহলে আমাদের মঙ্গল বয়ে আনতে অপরের স্বার্থত্যাগকে আমরা প্রত্যাশা করতে পারবো না। অধিকন্তু অপরের জন্য সাধারণত কাজ করা হয় না এবং একজন ব্যক্তির দ্বারা নিজের জন্য কাজ করা হয়। প্রকৃতপক্ষে, আমরা ভালোভাবে অবগত হতে পারি যে আমাদের স্বার্থ ও কাজের অগ্রগতি আমাদের সর্বোত্তম ফলাফলের জন্য। আমরা যদি নিজেরা চেষ্টা না করি, তাহলে আমাদের স্রষ্টা আমাদের পাশে থাকেন না। যারা জীবনে অন্যের ওপর নির্ভরশীল, ঈশ্বর তাদের অপছন্দ করেন। বস্তুত আমরা যদি নিজেদের সাহায্য না করি, তাহলে ঈশ্বর আমাদের সাহায্যের জন্য এগিয়ে আসবেন না। এভাবে আমাদের নিজেদের কাজ করতে হবে এবং আমরা আমাদের ইচ্ছাশক্তিতে বিশ্বাস হারাবো না।

Everybody wants to succeed, but not all achieve it. One of the reasons is that there are men who do not expert themselves but depend on others. Actually help from others is most uncertain. Moreover, the dependence on others destroys our self-confidence and does not allow the facilities to develop.
On the contrary, success in life does not come of itself. We can succeed only by honest and sincere labour. It is the only key to succeed in life. God really helps those who help themselves.
