If Those I loved were lost
Emily Dickinson
If those I loved were lost
The Crier’s voice would tell me –
If those I loved were found
The bells of Ghent would ring –
Did those I loved repose
The Daisy would impel me.
Philip – when bewildered
Bore his riddle in!
The Theme : Human beings are accountable to the Creator for their deeds. After death, the sinners would be punished and the well-doers would be rewarded, and their fine examples would become known to all throughout the world. So, when we are in danger of sinning, we should look ‘in’ or ‘inward’.
(মানুষকে তার কর্মকান্ডের জন্য সৃষ্টিকর্তার নিকট জবাবদিহি করতে হয়। মৃত্যুর পরে পাপিরা শাস্তি পাবে আর যারা সৎকর্ম করেছেন তারা পুরস্কৃত হবে এবং তাদের সুন্দর দৃষ্টান্ত বিশ্বব্যাপী সকলের জানা হবে। তাই আমরা যখন অপরাধ করার মত বিপদের মধ্যে থাকি তখন আমাদের উচিৎ আমাদের অন্তকরণের দিকে তাকানো।)
