The pen is mightier than the Sword.
মসি অসির চেয়ে অধিকতর শক্তিশালী।
Main idea : A martyr liberates man from foreign domination. A learned man liberates a man from ignorance and darkness. Knowledge is more powerful than sword in bringing the amelioration of man.
Amplification : Education is the source of light in a man's life. Learning opens the vistas of a man's knowledge. Man has to earn knowledge for his own sake. An educated man knows how to lead a prosperous and happy life. In fact, education of learning is a powerful medium in a man's life. Everyone respects an educated man. He is an enlightened person. He can differentiate between right and wrong. He can lead a man to the path of morality and religiosity. He can easily guide a nation to the path of prosperity. He can liberate a man from the abyss of darkness and ignorance. He can develop the inner potentialities of a man. He can lead a nation to achieve everlasting prosperity and amity. The writings of Rousseau, Voltaire, Karl Marx, Tolstoy and Gorky give an epoch making source of inspiration of men all over the world. The writings of great writers have an enduring impression in the heart of people.
Sword is a powerful weapon to terrify a man. Great conquerers like Alexander the Great, Halaku Khan, Chengiz Khan, Napoleon, Hitler became memorable by means of sword. A man or nation can be conquered by means of sword. Brave sons of the soil sacrifice their lives under the sword to liberate their country and countrymen. Definitely, the martyrs are the proud sons of the soil. They are respected and well-loved. Martyrdom is a matter of glory and pride. Nothing is parallel to blood and life. But the ink of a learned person is more valuable than this. The achievements or glory earned by sword are not as lasting as the achievements earned by learning or pen. In fact, pen or a great writer is more powerful than sword or a great solider.

মূলভাব : একজন শহিদ মানুষকে বিদেশি অত্যাচার থেকে মুক্ত করেন। একজন বিদ্বান ব্যক্তি একজন মানুষকে অজ্ঞতা ও অন্ধকার থেকে মুক্ত করেন। মানুষকে অপেক্ষাকৃত উন্নত করতে জ্ঞান তরবারির চেয়ে অধিকতর শক্তিশালী।
ভাবসম্প্রসারণ : শিক্ষা একজন মানুষের জীবনে আলোর উৎস। বিদ্যা একজন মানুষের জ্ঞানের সম্ভাবনাকে উন্মুক্ত করে। নিজের খাতিরে মানুষকে জ্ঞান অর্জন করতে হবে। একজন শিক্ষিত মানুষ জানেন কীভাবে একটি সমৃদ্ধ ও সুখী জীবনযাপন করতে হয়। বস্তুত শিক্ষা বা জ্ঞান একজন মানুষের জীবনে একটি শক্তিশালী মাধ্যম। প্রত্যেকে একজন শিক্ষিত ব্যক্তিকে সম্মান করে। একজন আলোকিত মানুষ, তিনি সঠিক ও ভুলের মধ্যে প্রভেদ করতে পারেন। তিনি নৈতিকতা ও ধার্মিকতার পথে একজন মানুষকে পরিচালিত করতে পারেন। তিনি সহজেই একটি জাতিকে সমৃদ্ধির পথে পরিচালিত করতে পারেন। তিনি একজন মানুষকে অন্ধকার ও অজ্ঞতার অতলগহ্বর থেকে মুক্ত করতে পারেন। তিনি একজন মানুষের অন্তর্নিহিত সম্ভাবনাকে বিকশিত করতে পারেন। তিনি চিরস্থায়ী সমৃদ্ধি ও মিত্রতা অর্জন করতে একটি জাতিকে নেতৃত্ব দিতে পারেন। রুশো, ভলটায়ার, কার্ল মার্কস, টলস্টয় ও গোর্কির লেখা সারাবিশ্বের মানুষের একটি যুগ সৃষ্টিকারী অনুপ্রেরণার উৎস পালন করে। মহান লেখকদের রচনা মানুষের হৃদয়ে একটি স্থায়ী ধারণা সৃষ্টি করেছে।
তরবারি মানুষকে অত্যন্ত ভীত করার একটি শক্তিশালী অস্ত্র। মহামতি আলেকজান্ডার, হালাকু খান, চেঙ্গিস খান, নেপোলিয়ন ও হিটলারের মতো মহান বিজয়ীরা তরবারির সাহায্যে স্মরণীয় হয়েছিলেন। একজন মানুষ বা জাতি তরবারির সাহায্যে বিজয়ী হতে পারে। দেশের সাহসী সন্তানেরা তাদের দেশ ও দেশকে যুক্ত করতে তারা তরবাবির নিচে তাদের জীবনকে উৎসর্গ করে। নিশ্চিতভাবে শহীদেরা দেশের গর্বিত সন্তান। তারা শ্রদ্ধেয় ও বেশ স্নেহাস্পদ। শহীদত্ত্ব একটি গৌরব ও গর্বের বিষয়। রক্ত ও জীবনের অনুরূপ কিছুই নয়। কিন্তু একজন বিধান ব্যক্তির কলম এর চেয়েও অধিকতর মূল্যবান। তরবারির তোর বাড়ির দ্বারা অর্জিত কৃতিত্ব ও গৌরব জ্ঞান ও কলমের দ্বারা অর্জিত কৃতিত্বের মতো দীর্ঘস্থায়ী নয়। বস্তুত কলম অথবা একজন মহান লেখক তরবারি বা একজন মহান সৈনিকের চেয়ে অধিকতর শক্তিশালী।
