Population Problem in Bangladesh
↬ Population Problem is the Main Problem in Bangladesh
↬ Bangladesh is an Overpopulated Country
Population problem is the main problem in Bangladesh. It is a small country of 1,47,570 square (স্কয়ার-বর্গ) kilometres but overpopulated. The density (ডেনসিটি-ঘনত্ব) of population is about 1015 per square kilometre. Every year twenty lac new babies are born.
Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated country of the world. About fifteen crore people live in this small land. Many of the ills of the country are due to overpopulation.
In 1981 Bangladesh had a population of about nine crores. But in 1989 it increased to eleven crores. That means two crores more people added to it. The growth is about 3% every year.
Population is an asset (এসেট-সম্পদ) of a country. But it is a curse (কার্স-অভিশাপ) when a country cannot meet the necessities (নেসেসিটিজ-প্রয়োজনসমূহ) of the people. Additional (এডিশনাল-বাড়তি) people need additional things like-food, clothes, houses, hospitals, work, etc. But for a poor country like Bangladesh, it is impossible to meet the demands.
The effect of overpopulation is very dangerous. The rate of unemployment (আনএমপ্লয়মেন্ট-বেকারত্ব) is increasing every year. Law and other situation are now out of control (আউট অব কন্ট্রোল – নিয়ন্ত্রণের বাইরে). There is no balance (ব্যালান্স-সামঞ্জস্য) between food production (প্রডাকশন-উৎপাদন) and population growth. The price of things is rising rapidly (র্যাপিডলি-দ্রুত). Overpopulation creates much pressure (প্রেশার-চাপ) in all sectors (সেক্টরস্-ক্ষেত্র) of the economy.
We should come forward to solve this problem. Early marriage (আরলি ম্যারেজ - বাল্যবিবাহ) should be banned. Each family should not have more than two children. For this, we should remove illiteracy (ইলিটারেসি - নিরক্ষরতা) from society.
The government alone cannot solve this problem. Educated people of society must play an important role to face the crisis. Otherwise, we will be ruined (রুইন্ড – ধ্বংস হয়ে যাব) as a nation.
