Main Idea : Life is a bed of thorns. It is a perpetual struggle against the hostile forces.
Amplification : Human life is full of troubles and perplexities. God doesn't send to this world to sip in heavenly pleasures and happiness. We have to face difficulties and problems. Sorrows and frustrations are the constant company of man. Happiness and sadness are the parts of life. There are more sorrows than happiness in life. Man has to suffer much on earth. He has to pass through excruciating pain and suffering. He has to face incurable diseases like cancer, paralyses, strokes, etc. Unexpected deaths and accidents chase man. Poverty, torture, repression, pain, etc. are ever-present specters of life. We have to fight continually against all. Sometimes, man has to suffer since birth. There are some people who are handicapped since birth. Their sufferings create panic among others. None is born here with silver spoons. To see life is to see unhappiness and sorrows.

মূলভাব : জীবন একটি কাঁটার বিছানা। এটি শত্রুপক্ষীয় শক্তির বিরুদ্ধে একটি অবিরাম যুদ্ধ।
ভাবসম্প্রসারণ : মানবজীবন ঝামেলা ও জটিলতায় পূর্ণ। ঈশ্বর এই পৃথিবীতে স্বর্গীয় আনন্দ ও সুখ ভোগ করার জন্য পাঠাইনি। আমাদেরকে মুশকিল ও সমস্যা মোকাবিলা করতে হয়। দুঃখ ও নৈরাজ্য মানুষের নিত্যসঙ্গী। সুখ ও দুঃখ জীবনের অংশ। জীবনে সুখের চেয়ে দুঃখ অধিক। মানুষকে পৃথিবীতে অনেক কষ্ট ভোগ করতে হয়। তাকে তীব্র যন্ত্রণাদায়ক ব্যথা ও দুঃখকষ্টের মধ্য দিয়ে অতিক্রম করতে হয়। তাকে ক্যানসার, পক্ষাঘাত, স্ট্রোক ইত্যাদির মতো অনিরাময়যোগ্য ব্যাধির মোকাবিলা করতে হয়। অপ্রত্যাশিত মৃত্যু ও দুর্ঘটনা মানুষকে পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করে। দারিদ্র্য, অত্যাচার, নির্যাতন, যন্ত্রণা ইত্যাদি জীবনের অপচ্ছায়া সর্বদা উপস্থিত থাকে। আমাদের চিরন্তন সকলের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে হয়। অনেক সময় মানুষকে জন্ম থেকে কষ্ট করতে হয়। অনেক মানুষ জন্ম থেকে প্রতিবন্ধী। তাদের দুঃখকষ্ট অন্যদের মধ্যে আতঙ্ক সৃষ্টি করে। এখানে কেউ রূপার চামচ মুখে নিয়ে জন্মগ্রহণ করে না। জীবন দেখা হলো অসুখী ও দুঃখ দেখা।
