Kindness Results in Hospitality
The night was stormy. Thick darkness enveloped the face of the earth. Dogs were barking loudly. Suddenly, I heard a knock at my door.
I opened the door, and found an old woman drenched by rain and shivering in cold. She mumbled. “You’re like my son. In this stormy right, I can’t stay outside and need a shelter. Please, refuge me.” I let the old woman come in. I gave her a blanket and a cot to sleep. She was still shivering. I touched her forehead, and felt that she had fever. I had some medicines with me, and I gave one to her. She took the drug, and fell asleep. My parents and sister were sleeping as the night was cool. When it was time for dinner, I awoke them, and told them about the old woman. They became happy at my generosity, and anxious for the sick woman. My mother awoke the woman, and gave her food. She ate the food, and fell asleep again. In the midnight, my mother gave her another medicine. She took it. In the next morning, I woke up and went to the woman to test her temperature. I found that she was cured but very weak. My mother told her to stay that day with us, and gave her food. I went to college, and when I return, I found the woman jolly and gossiping with my mother and sister. The woman told us that her house was at another corner of the town. She gave her address. I along with my father took her to her house. Her son and daughter-in-law had been anxious about her till then. They received her with joy, and thanked us with gratitude.
