A Sly Fox and a Foolish Crow

One day a crow stole a piece of meat. It flew away and sat on the branch of a tree. Suddenly, a fox noticed the meat in the crow’s beak. The sight of the piece of meat made his mouth full of water. He thought for sometimes. He hit upon a plan to have it. He said to the crow, “Oh beautiful Crow! Your complexion is so fair. I think you can sing nicely. Would you please sing a song for me?” At first, the crow did not want to sing. But as the fox carried on praising her she felt proud of her tongue. Finally, she started to sing a song. But no sooner had she opened her mouth that the piece of meat fell off from her mouth. The clever fox took it and ran away. The crow had paid a heavy price for his foolishness.

The Fox and the Crow

There was a crow on a tree with a piece of meat in its beak. A hungry fox sat under the tree. He saw the crow with the piece of meat in its beak. He wished to eat the piece of meat. So, he made a plan. In an attempt to materialize his plan he thought of several devices and finally, he got one which seemed very suitable. He decided to take to flattery. So the fox walked up to the foot of the tree, looked up and cried, “Good day beautiful crow. How well you are looking today! How glossy your feathers are! How bright your eyes are! I am sure that your voice must surpass (ছাড়িয়ে যাওয়া) in sweetness than that of other birds, just as your figure does; let me hear but one song from you that I may greet you as the Queen of Birds.” Each and every word that the fox uttered were that sweetest things of the world the crow had ever heard. It lifted up its head and began to caw its best. But the moment when it opened its mouth the piece of meat fell to the ground, and the fox snapped the piece of meat. “That will do. That was all I wanted. In exchange for your meat I will give you a piece of advice for the future : “Do Not Trust Flatterers” said the fox.
